Default GUI improvement. Ctrol and Alt toggleable option.

Currently, to have item, ally and enemy names shown at all times, you have to keep the Ctrl and Alt buttons pressed.

I'd like one of these two options be added to the game:
1.- A new option under the 'General options' tab, so, after you check it, the "Show enemy target names" and the "Show allied and other names" command buttons become toggleable.
2.- Two new key bindindg are added, that work just like default (toggle running) R works for W(hold to run), but with "show enemies" and "show allies and items" instead. That way people could either replace the Ctrl and Alt bindings for toggleable versions of them, or bind them to something else if they want to have both options at the same time.

That way, instead of having the Alt key presed all the time while looking for Red iris flowers, chests, NPCs, singposts, etc... you would just hit it once, then another time to hide them again. The same for enemies and character names inside outposts.

Why to? To extend some more the usable life of your keyboard and your metacarpus.
It's annoying and tiring for the hand muscles and articulations having to keep pressed Ctrl and Alt with the thumb and the little finger while you use the other three fingers in the WADS, the TAB key and the 1..8 numbers.

Edit: Added poll.
Edit: Added alternate idea.

Not only more ergonomic for your hands. But to prevent that annoying holding down alt by habit and hitting tab to tab through the targets to select the one to target/lock heroes on.
And we all know what happens when you hit alt+tab in windoze...

omg u r stoopid noob lol use ur mouse 4 skills lol back to pve plzz!!! lol

/cough

Seriously though, it'd be nice to have this feature around. Would definitely save the effort of dragging my fingers that extra half-inch every few moments (hey, some of you may laugh, but every half-inch counts! They add up to a few hundred miles, after a long while of playing), which is not only packed with short-term convenience, but also has long-term benefits.

Gamers need their fingers, hands, and wrists to last as long as possible!

I must insist in this.

Probably I will have to quit Guild Wars for a while if this is not added. Well. it's not that I want to. It's what I'll have to do due to articulation ache.

TT__TT my hand hurts...

Yes, I like this idea! I find myself holding down ctrl and alt a lot, so this would make targeting things far less frustrating.

This would be great, I've seriously considered taping those buttons down.

/signed. At the same time, it might be cool if holding Alt or Ctrl under that affect would temporarily turn it off, in case a flood of names is giving you trouble.

Oh my God, I do that at least once every hour while playing. I just can't break the habit. I thought I was the only one with that problem.

Anyway, /signed. Because it's a small update that should have been done 3 years ago.

/signed. I already have RSI in my right wrist from the mouse movements I do while playing this game... If I can save my other hand so much the better!

Nice, just after I resurrected one of my other 'save our hands' suggestions.

I don't like much having to keep the thumb in the Alt key and the little finger in the Ctrl key. It's tiresome for hands!

Here you are: a poll.

Vote yes if you want some relax for your hands! We need them for more important things! (Well, not just 'that' but 'that' too)

SAVE OUR HANDS! (Save the world)

Oh wow,I didn't actually realize this was an old thread. Point still stands though. Hopefully the thread will get more publicity than it did in 2007.

/signed,

however, I'm so used to holding them down, I doubt that I'll even use the toggle. I'll just keep holding them down thinking that I'm affecting the game because I'm always holding them down in PvP.

yeah it would be good, excpecially cause if u hit alt and tab, it pulls up like a bar where u can choose what program to go to, which is very annoying.
